Bird Microsculpture

The bird sculpture in the top photo was carved inside the 5 mm diameter drilled cavity at the rear end of this abstractly bird-form sandstone.  The sculpted area within the cavity is coated with fine sand (apparently non-local) unrelated to the rock itself, almost certainly used as an abrasive in forming the image.
